Training Centre Facilities

Training Facilities

The Nordic Pilot Training Centre offers modern training facilities. In the NPTC campus students find well furnished classrooms with separate planning, briefing and debriefing rooms, as well as flight simulators.

The FlightTrainingWeb (FTW) provides up to date software for managing resources, handling daily flight programmes, grading students and providing information for the whole squadron about each day’s flying activities. The FTW also provides real time flight planning information (weather and other applicable data) and keeps records about pilot’s qualifications and proficiency.

Classrooms

All classrooms have real-time weather information
displays and a fast fibre optic network. One classroom is equipped with a video conferencing system.

Classrooms and mission briefing rooms have access to computer-based training programmes, briefing materials and other sources that students need in order to prepare for coming missions and classes.

Mission Planning, Briefing and Debriefing Rooms

The mission planning, briefing and debriefing rooms are located right next to the hangars. Facilities have real time weather information displays, whiteboards and network access as well as computer based mission planning (MPS) and debriefing (MISNET) tools. MPS and MISNET tools are specially developed for NPTC Ph III and Ph IV training purposes.

Mission briefings are administered using a local area network based system which provides easy access to all information needed to complete a briefing. A mission briefing file has been created for each mission and can be projected on a screen using a video data projector.

Simulators and training devices

The NPTC’s two flight simulators can be used simultaneously. A recent upgrade of the simulators included the installation of high-resolution displays to enhance training.

Simulator instructors, though Patria employees, have a long career as Hawk flight instructors in the FINAF. They are supported by Fighter Squadron 41’s flight instructors, particularly on training sorties that include tactical flying.

Hawk glass cockpit aircraft has many modern systems and equipment, such as Multi Function Display (MFD), Head Up Display (HUD) and Up Front Control Panel (UFCP). Therefore specific training devices have been created to enable efficient flight training. Desk Top Trainers (DTT) have visual system, allowing students to train the use of aircraft systems and train basic flying. Students have free (24/7) access to training devices.

Students have also software in their laptop to familiarize the aircraft system usage and it’s functionality.
