Advanced Flight Training

For the student pilots it is assumed that they have sufficient flight experience, consisting of at least 100 flight hours and IMC rating with JAR CPL-IR theory or equivalent knowledge.

Before commencing actual flight training, a ground school is necessary. This includes English language training consisting of aviation English and an Air Tactical English Course (ATEC), Hawk type rating course and description of local instructions, regulations and orders. Patria can also provide additional basic intensive English language training if needed.

The table below describes the content of the first phase of the Hawk flight training. The content of the syllabi can be adjusted flexibly.

Advanced A/C per pilot Sim per pilot
Sorties Hours Sorties Hours
Emergencies      5  5,5
Clearhood 16 17,6 10 11
Instrument 10 11 10 11
Navigation 6 6,6 3 3,3
Night 2 2 1 1,1
Formation 14 14 0 0
Composite 2 2,5 1 1,1
TOTAL 50 53,7 30 33

In the Advanced Flight Training phase the student will fly 70 hours (66 sorties) in the Hawk and 21 hours (18 sorties) in the simulator.

Instrument flying training educates the student in flying in IMC

  • day and night
  • in civil and military airspace
  • single or in a 2-ship formation both as leader and wingman.

The objective of the Advanced Flight Training phase is to receive a type conversion for the Hawk including an IMC rating, and to fly a sufficient number of various basic flying sorties to receive a skill and experience level needed for tactical training.

This phase is directly followed by the next flight training phase (Tactical Flight Training).
